Quotation
"You could have commercials directed at young people, sell sweetened alco lemonade to get young girls on the hook, like Bacardo does. And you could use different sports to get the bottle associated with health and good shape, like Carlsberg does."
Leif Pagrotsky in GP 2007-05-16
about what can happen with a more aggressive marketing compared to the present practice by Vin & Sprit.

Vin & Sprit for sale? Absolutely not! |
The fight for Vin & Sprit has already begun. Five thirsty giants are lining up to do some shopping: Bacardi, Diaego, Pernod Ricard, Fortune Brands and the Wallenberg-owned EQT. |
|
Step by step Swedish state property is sold out on the global market. This is hard to understand – and poorly rooted among the people. Government ownership of the necessary infrastructure for water, heating and traffic has been a matter of course. It isn’t anymore.
The new government alliance goes one step further. Now the sell-out includes well-managed companies like TeliaSonera (Televerket – God knows!) and the housing loan institute SBAB. How will the good revenues from these companies be compensated in the future? With raised taxes?
And then we have Vin & Sprit (Wine & Liquor)! Who could ever think of the idea to sell this ”crown jewel” owned by the Swedish people? Completely absurd – like privatizing the Royal Opera, the National Museum or the Dramatic Theatre.
The predecessor of today’s Vin & Sprit was situated on Reimersholme in Stockholm. Inaugurated in 1869 the factory laid the foundation for our tradition of quality. Today all the seasoned schnapps carry the name Reimersholms.

The fight for Vin & Sprit has already begun, even though unrest on the financial markets could mean some trouble ahead. After all, you have to lay some 50 billion SEK on the table. Five thirsty giants are lining up to do some shopping: Bacardi, Diaego, Pernod Ricard, Fortune Brands and the Wallenberg-owned EQT. They are of course all longing for Absolut, the second largest Vodka brand in the world.
But, what will happen with ”O.P.Andersson”, ”Hallands Fläder” and ”Bäska Droppar”? They are all part of our cultural heritage. And what would Christmas be without the Yule schnapps from Reimersholms?
Please, Mr. Sell-out minister Mats Odell! Give us a Christmas message with warmth in these dark December days. Tell us: Reimersholms is Absolutely not for sale!
